Supplements to consider: Vitamin C (see dosage if symptomatic), salt pipe/inhaler (DIY method), N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC), olive leaf extract (or extra virgin olive oil), elderberry syrup, echinacea

At first symptoms (e.g. feeling not quite right, sensitive throat, body aches, temperature, cough etc), the following could be done throughout the day:
Iodine 0.23% mouthwash (gargle 2mins with optional swallow) ~1tbsp
Virgin Coconut oil (gargle 2mins then swallow) ~1/2 tsp
Salt water (gargle 2mins then spit). Ordinary tap water may also work.
My preference is green tea (gargle 2mins then swallow). Ordinary black tea may also work.

The above could also be done intermittently as a prophylactic. To calculate the correct % iodine mouthwash concentration simply divide the iodine solution concentration by 0.23 and this will give you the dilution ratio, e.g.
Lugol's 2% iodine solution ---> 2/0.23 = ~9  ---> for every one drop of iodine solution you add 9 drops water (Approx. 40 iodine drops per 18mL/tbsp water)
Lugol's 7% iodine solution ---> 7/0.23 = ~30 ---> one iodine drop per 30 drops water (Approx. 14 iodine drops per 21mL/tbsp water)
Povidone iodine 10% ---> 10/0.23 = ~43 ---> one iodine drop per 43 drops water (Approx. 10 iodine drops 20mL/tbsp water)
Helpful information: there are approx. 20 drops in a millilitre (mL), and one tbsp is approx. 20mL. For additional effect some use this solution in a neti-pot for nasal rinsing. Iodized salt in (boiled then cooled) water may also help as a neti-pot nasal rinse.

If allergic to any of the above then avoid. Please share this article with others if you found it helpful. Thanks.
